Your Club Needs You!

Calling all Club Members

Players, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Siblings, Girlfriends, Boyfriends, etc

Football wouldn’t be football without volunteers.  Whether it’s coaching, joining the club’s committee or helping out with the variety of support roles, football gives you a chance to meet like-minded people and help your club.

Each year at the AGM, the individuals are elected to fill Executive positions.  This group then seeks volunteers to fill other support roles.  For 2012 team leaders are needed for the following positions.  If your speciality or interest is in one of these areas we’d love to have your help.

The Let’s Have Fun! Leader (Fundraising Officer):  this lead person will coordinate with other Club members suitable fundraising activities for the continued financial viability of the Club.

The Fashionista (Merchandise Officer): will manage the sourcing of our playing strip, track suits, and other merchandise; liaise with club members wishing to purchase club merchandise.

The Toot Our Horn (Communications) Team – Website, Publicity and Newsletter Officers will work closely together to ensure information about the Club and its members and sponsors are shared with the public in a variety of formats.

IT Guru (Website Officer):  will maintain the information contained on the website and suggest improvements to the website; assist the Publicity & Newsletter Officers and others as needed in gathering information suitable for display on the website.

Toot Our Horn Leader (Publicity Officer):  will liaise with the various media and team management to promote the Club, teams and members; assist the Website & Newsletter Officers in gathering relevant information for publication on the website; ensure sponsors are provided with media exposure.

Write Me Up Scotty Leader (Newsletter Officer):  develop and distribute the ACFC newsletter as required; assist the Website & Publicity Officers in gathering relevant information for publication in the newsletter.

The Don’t Stub Your Toe Leader (Safety Officer):  this person will be instrumental in ensuring our grounds and equipment are maintained so as to reduce the likelihood of injury to players/community; develop a process to capture and record injury information and be the main point of contact should an injury occur; build on the established relationship with local injury  management specialists (Flex Out Physio, etc).

The Hands On Crew:  the back bone of the club!  These volunteers serve the hungry mobs at the canteen during home matches and help set up/take down the fields that our players triumph on, run the lines during games.  Good option for those individuals looking for that home match, hands on, low key volunteer fix.

Is there something you’d like to be involved in but hasn’t been here? Let us know!

ACFC works on a ‘team’ basis.  We need team leaders to coordinate; hands on volunteers to keep the home front going – we need you!  It’s a team effort to get the job done – building a successful, happy club!

So, don’t be shy! Whether you’re looking to get very involved or a little involved, there are many ways you can assist.  Talk to your friends and family and join in.  ACFC is your  club, so let’s all take part in running it.

To volunteer or for further information please contact any of these individuals.

Round 1 match reports now posted

If you missed any of the action or just want to relive some of the events from our round 1 matches please check out the match reports in the news and events tab at the top of the home page, If your match hasnt been reported on feel free to ‘remind’ your manager to get it in before the deadline (Monday 6am, following the game).

Ready for round 1

After all the hard work put in by so many over the past weeks and months I’m sure I’m not the only one who is eagerly (and a little nervously) awaiting tomorrows kick off to season 2012.

And what a great round 1 its shaping up to be, with us squaring off against the new look Wodonga Heart at the redeveloped Willow park in Wodonga.

With so much change at Willow park over the off season Wodonga Heart is possibly the toughest game 1st up.

We at ACFC wish the Heart all the very best for the 2012 season and certainly wont be underestimating them in any age group as they aim to get their new page in history of to a winning start, so if you are proudly wearing the royal blue of our great club for the 1st time or the 500th time tomorrow good luck and be prepared for a tough but fair tussle on the park.

Lastly, On behalf of the club a big “thank you” goes to Sue Portors and Di Maw for the late nights and personal sacrifices you guys have made over the past couple months (and especially the past 2 weeks) in getting our 250+ players, coaches and managers registered so as they can take the field for round 1.

Go Blues!

2011 Xmas at the races

Great weather was coupled with great company on Saturday at the Albury races for the ‘ACFC Xmas race day get together’ and a huge well done to the catering crew of Sue Portors (sassy sandwich guru), Emma Rogers (Dip chick), Diane Maw (snack diva and hottest chickie on course) and Lisa Phanthakesone (Spring roll angel – I need to learn how to make them!) who between them ensured there was enough food to cater for our entire crew!
Everyone who attended had fun, fothies and some even managed a win or two on the nags, some highlights of the day were Mitch Boswell (aka Nozzle)turning up very worse for wear from the previous night work xmas party only to be upstaged by our very own ARC insider Ruth Boswell (aka Muma Nozzle) with hangover of the day (gotta love xmas party season), The spectacular standard (dresses) put in by our girls Em, Di, Tay, Sarah, Lisa, Bones and Millie, who were all responsible for more than one punter requiring the Monday morning visit to the chiropractor. and lastly (but by no means least) was the very regular displays of public affection by our very own Ct Taylor.
So well done to all involved and a reminder to those that missed out….we have a great club with great people so whenever we get the opportunity embrace these types of get togethers, get on board and enjoy.

Great Pre Season Attendance.

Well after 4 solid weeks of pre season training I am very pleased with both the attendance and the effort displayed by all.
With an average of 30 players over the 4 weeks the numbers have been good, and with a mix of players from all 3 grades (as well as some new faces to the club) the standard has been steadily improving as the cobwebs have been blown out.
It is also great to hear the comments back from the lads acknowledging the obvious improvements in fitness levels since week 1, I think some have been amazed how quickly we lose our ‘match legs’ after the season finishes.
It will be of huge benefit to those that have participated in the past 4 weeks when it comes to the heavy stuff post Xmas, with that being said this week finalises our pre xmas runs (with our last session this coming Thursday 15th December, 6pm @ Jelbart) so I encourage all returning and new players to get down to the ground this week and have a run.
’til then,
Cheers Ant.

We’re off and running!

With an attendance of 33 players at the 1st men’s pre season training session the standard has been set, coupled this with the many apologies from current players who were unable to attend and things are looking very positive for ACFC to hit the ground running in season 2012.
With 8 new faces at the session it strongly supports our position of welcoming new players and families to our great club, this mixed with our balance of youth and experience will only improve our potential on the pitch both now and into the future.
So new and returning players are encouraged to get down to Jelbart park every Thursday 6pm – 8pm up until Xmas and enjoy a light run, and please remember your Boots and Shin pads.
